Postgres 8.1 release notes

The venerable open-source PostgreSQL RDBMS takes another leap forward with version 8.1

When I get a chance, I might enumerate some of the highlights. In the mean time, there is a rather large changelog to peruse.

Remeber it is still only a "Release Candidate" - Dont run your live enterprise apps on it yet (by all means run a dev version!) - so I will be sticking to 8.0.4 for now.

For sure. Nothing worse than people complaining about how some open-source product did them in. Then you find out the software wasn't labeled production ready.

Indeed. However, note that I never so much as posted a msg on a newsgroup or discussion forum complaining about it. The idea of using beta software is to help test it and report bugsd. I was going to get around to reporting the bug but it was fixed before I had the chance.
